The High Frequency Word Charts: Why have the HFW Charts changed?

The High Frequency Charts have recently undergone a significant upgrade.


WHAT CHARTS?


The old High-Frequency Charts consisted of regular flash words, irregular heart words and phonic concepts.

WHAT HAS CHANGED?


New charts can be downloaded HERE


The following changes have been made:

  • Removed the phonic concepts from these charts.
  • Renamed the charts to align with the Teaching Sequence Manuals.
  • Simplified the format.


The new version is now a single HFW list comprised of the regular flash words and irregular heart words that align to each of the teaching sequences.

WHY THE CHANGE?


PLD made the decision to simplify the charts based on school feedback.


Although the Foundation charts were popular, the Year 1, 2 & 3 charts were cluttered and difficult for students and teachers to reference.
