Why are both percentages and raw scores entered into the Early Years and Foundation Tracking Sheets?

Subtests 1, 2, and 3 are scored out of 5.

As a result it is easy to convert the scores into a percentage of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% or 100%.

Alphabet scores are entered onto the tracking sheets as a raw score.

Group 1 will be of 6, Groups 1 & 2 will be out of 12, Groups 1, 2 & 3 will be out of 18 and all of the alphabet is of course out of 26.

Alphabet scores are not changed to percentages because:

These are more difficult to change to percentages.
Raw score used here is more easily understood. For example, a score of 4/6 indicates that there are just 2 more sounds from this groups to be learnt. However, 4/6 as a percentage is 67%, but what does 67% mean?
