# When Should I Schedule Comprehension Question Tests?

**PLD used to encourage schools to conduct Pre and Post testing, however, More than 10 years ago, we found that in today's technological society schools that conducted the 'Pre-Test' had on average more than 80% of students failing. PLD did not see the value in this and so changed the Pre and Post tests.**

| Conduct Mid-Year and End of Year Tests.

* First, teach Term 1 & 2 and then conduct a [progress check](https://pld-literacy.org/product/5-year-old-comprehension-questions-progress-check/) mid-year to determine students who would be unlikely to 'make-it' and work toward acquiring these skills within Semester 2. 
* **If students are scoring 0/4 or 1/4 mid-year,** we would suggest this is grounds for a referral to Speech.
