What does a PLD SSP lesson look like in the Early Years?

STRUCTURED SYNTHETIC PHONICS IN THE EARLY YEARS
The Early Years is a significant period in a child’s development. For best outcomes, play and child-centered approaches need to be balanced with explicit targeted instruction.

Instruction can be done at a whole class and small group level, and should involve short explicit sessions 3-4 times a day.

Activities to support learning can be included as task work with the teacher or assistant in addition to the explicit instruction sessions.
