We have Multi-Aged Classesn our small school. Can the SSP KITS work in composite and MAG classrooms?
Unfortunately, the SSP Kits are actually not designed for multi-aged classrooms, but the good news is that they will work in composite classes.
Composite Classes can work with the SSP Integrated Kits when schools purchase the 'kit' for the higher of the two year levels:
- For example: If there was a Year 1/2 class, then the school could purchase a Year 2 kit (and place the Year 1s and no doubt some of the Year 2s on catch-up programs)
- Likewise, if a school has a Year 3/4 composite class, then the school could purchase a Year 4 Kit, and place the Year 3s (and likely some of the Year 4's) on catch-up programs.
Multi-Aged Grouping (MAG) typically presents with a wider age range of students (e.g. P-2, P-3 or K-2 or 3-6)
- This would likely require two different kits, which would be expensive for the school and also very complicated for the classroom teacher navigating the two kits.
- For this reason, the SSP Kits are not recommended for MAG
